The Problem

Papa Bees Wings has operated in Longwood, Florida for over 40 years. The restaurant has been featured in the Orlando Sentinel and named in Orlando Weekly's Best Of Orlando. The reputation was established. The website was not reflecting it.

  • [✕] COVID-era hero image. Staff wearing masks was the first thing visitors saw. It immediately dated the brand to 2020 and undercut 40 years of credibility.
  • [✕] Zero call-to-action. No View Menu, no Order Now, no path forward. Visitors arrived and had nowhere to go.
  • [✕] Template-era layout. Plain white background, generic navigation, no visual hierarchy. Nothing on the page communicated 40 years of quality or local reputation.
  • [✕] No brand color system. No palette, no typographic identity, no visual language a customer would recognize or remember.
  • [✕] Incomplete navigation. Welcome, Locations, and About only. The menu was buried, there was no contact flow, and no anchor for conversion anywhere on the site.
  • [✕] No organized menu. Papa Bees has a large, thorough menu. The original site gave it no structure, no hierarchy, and no mobile-readable layout.

The Approach

The brief was clear: build a website for a 40-year Longwood restaurant that earns trust within the first three seconds. The design direction was dark, cinematic, and appetite-first. Every section was structured to move visitors from arrival to a clear action.

  • [✓] Cinematic hero. Dark, high-contrast wings photography. Appetite before anything else. An immediate quality signal for every new visitor.
  • [✓] Editorial typography. Bold, oversized headline leading with "THE BEST WINGS IN TOWN." Family ownership and 40-year legacy stated clearly above the fold.
  • [✓] Complete nav architecture. Home, Menu, About Us, and Contact, with a persistent ORDER NOW call-to-action button locked in the navigation bar on every page.
  • [✓] Cohesive brand system. Dark maroon and brown palette, gold accent color, mascot logo integration, and a consistent typographic hierarchy applied across every section.
  • [✓] Full menu built from scratch. Every item structured, categorized, and laid out for readability on mobile and desktop. A large menu, organized to be effortlessly scannable.
  • [✓] AI-generated food photography. Cinematic, appetite-forward visuals produced using AI image generation. Professional quality delivered on a small-business budget. The tool was used deliberately and with intent.
  • [✓] Parallax scrolling. Depth and motion layered into the hero and key sections. Keeps visitors engaged past the fold without adding page weight or external dependencies.
  • [✓] Mobile-first build. Fully responsive HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. No frameworks, no dependencies. Fast load times, clean hand-written code, and production deployment on Netlify.

40 years of legacy.
Now the site shows it.

Papa Bees Wings has served Longwood, Florida since the early 1990s. The menu features hand-breaded wings, fresh curly fries, and house-made blue cheese and ranch, with roots in Buffalo, New York. The restaurant has been featured in the Orlando Sentinel and named in Orlando Weekly's Best Of Orlando. The reputation was already there.

The redesign closes the gap between what Papa Bees Wings is and what its web presence was communicating. The site is live at papabees.com. Hand-coded HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. No frameworks, no bloat. Delivered, deployed, and retained.
